Spoon, moving, and old, old blogs
So, I’m not feeling too well at work, so I think that justifies a blog entry:
1. So I was recently reminded of the awesomness of Spoon (its a band for those who are confused), and so that’s really all that’s been spinning the last couple of days. And because lastfm.com is one of man’s greatest invention, I’ve been listening to the “Sounds like Spoon” station for 1 1/2 weeks at work.
2. And a related note, that could also be called “Why the Internet is Awesome”: so when I was typing 1, I was listening to the aforementioned station, and heard this awesome song I wanted to tag in my library. It was a really weird name (okkervil river), and I hit the log-in, thinking it would take me back to that song. It did not; so I just typed in “Bands that sound like Spoon” in Google, which turned up a Yahoo!Answers entry where a guy listed a giant list of bands like Spoon, 2 of which was Okkervil River. Hazaa! I love information!
3. I am totally moving into my new place this weekend. I bought some more tubs for moving the other day–I shouldn’t have had to do this. I had a gillion tubs already (ask anyone who ever helped be move-in at Evangel), but empty tubs sitting in a house for 3 months get taken and used. So I bought somemore, and have already made a pretty good dent on my packing pile.
And what is sort of awesome/weird is that I am moving into my apartment the same exact day that I would be moving if I were still at Evangel. The same day…weird.
4. THANK YOU to everyone who sent me birthday love yesterday!!!! It was awesome and much appreciated. You are great!
5. I realized the other day that I have kept an “online presence,” as in a blog/online diary/networking site on a semi-consistant basis for 7 years. That’s a lot of committment for me–I can’t think of anything else that I’ve done for that long…wait, i was in 4-H for 8 years, and theatre for 10, but my mom had to make me get in the van a lot of the time.
And to think it all started with a Diaryland.com account. Then another one. And then another one that was a little more secretative. And then I went to college, got a myspace, and let my teen age angst waste away on a server somewhere in some guy’s basement. I should read through those. There’s some old, old stuff in there…haha
6. I secretly like the sound that my computer speakers make when my cell phone is messing around with them. When I’m getting a call or sometimes for no reason, my phone causes my speakers to make a little robot noise, and it humors me. Sort of like seeing some wash windows on a tall building–its not something thrillingly entertaining, but it’s just abnormal enough to keep your eyes glued.
that’s all for now, I think. I’ve got some website crap to do.
