Today is election day here in America, and I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited about a day that had nothing to do with gifts or snow in a long, LONG time. So in honor of freedom and voting, here’s a collection of “get out a vote” posters through the ages:
From Sandusky History. Early 1900′s. I can’t imagine living in a time where women weren’t even allowed to vote. And to think that this time was barely 80 years ago is just crazy.
Lyndon Johnson- 1964 I think. I like how LBJ almost rhymes with USA and how stern he looks. But come ‘on; Goldwater wasn’t going to win anyway…
From the AIGA Poster Contest- 2008? I love all the different type styles and the “You get a Sweet Sticker.” I better get a sticker today too…
Push for the marginalized young voter for the 1972 election. Features an African-American voter from the 1965 march in Selma for the freedom to vote without prejudice and oppression. Awesome in all respects.
Found over at Strawberry Luna, with some of the proceeds going to Project Vote Smart. I love the illustration style here. Great Stuff.
Fat *ss Vote Poster by Sarah Nelson Forss. I love the type style and that little donkey is great.
Don’t forget to vote!
