Ok, let’s just be honest here: I’m pretty nerdy breed when it comes to people.
I work on computers for a living; I love robots; I can (do on a frequent basis) have conversations about HTML, CSS, C#, and the cons of Vista; and I also revel in exciting anticipation between MacBook releases.
But there is one thing (well, maybe two) that I don’t understand: Comic Book Guys-secret readers, store crowders, and those guys that are first in line when their illustrated comic goes to the silver screen. And to be honest, most of my guy friends are these types of guys.
I have spend countless hours in the “graphic novel” section in bookstores, and having the “This is why this is cool” and the “The Watchmen better be good because the novel was” conversations over root beer floats and leftovers. But just like the sick pleasure some people feel while watching anime, I just don’t get it.
But one thing I do get, shamefully sometimes as it is, is Wired, and they have cool feature they are starting called “Secret Lives,” and what type of person are they featuring first? Comic Bookstore Workers.
It was an interesting read about how they aren’t sad lonely dudes, with most answering the question “what they least nerdiest thing about you?” with “I actually have a girlfriend.”…..ok. Anyways, I leave you with this picture, which I think is funny/sad/funny:
He looks like he hates his life….
